Esther C L Goh is an associate professor and the head of Social Work Department of the National University of Singapore. Prior to becoming an academic, she had 15 years of frontline social work practice experience working with male and female drug addicts and their children, and multi-stressed families.

She obtained her PhD in Social Work from the University of Hong Kong and holds a Master in Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Sociology (Hons) from the National University of Singapore.  Her research interests include: social work practice research, client-social worker dynamics, bilateral parent-child dynamics, children as agents in low income families, social work education research (joint editor of greater China Board of Social Work Education, Routledge London), research methods expertise: qualitative methodologies, ethnographic methods.
